Latest Appointment

We went in for an appointment yesterday.  Doctor’s appointments here are a little different than in the U.S.  You can’t schedule an appointment here.  You just come in.  Picture this.  You go directly to your doctor’s room and find eight other women in the room crowded around the doctor who is sitting at her desk.  Whoever is first to throw their little booklet (for the dr. to write prescriptions, diagnosis, etc)  in front of her goes next.  Well, I arrive and when she looks up and sees me she tells me to take a seat in the hall and “”deng yixia” (wait a little).  So Adam and I wait. . . and wait. . . and wait while one woman after another continues to file into and out of the room.  No signs of slowing down.  How does a doctor not loose their mind in such a situation?  Finally, when there were just 3 or 4 women, the doctor comes out and ushers me to another room.  She apologizes and says there will be no charge today because of our wait.  Would that ever happen in the U.S. ? Even with an appointment in America, you usually have to wait a while and still get charged 60 times as much as here.

Anyhow, blood pressure good, baby’s heart rate good, no problems.  The baby has been wiggling around more and more the last couple days.  The doctor asked if I would like another ultrasound… oh so tempting.  We could probably find out if its a boy or girl at this point.  We will wait.

I felt the baby move today!  I was reading and kept feeling little flutters.  I thought maybe I felt something yesterday, but wasn’t sure, but today after feeling it several times I felt more sure I wasn’t just imagining it or that it wasn’t just digestion : )

Finally looking Pregnant

About two weeks ago Adam’s aunt arrived in China to do a little traveling with us.  At that time people were still saying I didn’t look pregnant.  But the last few days I seem to have finally popped and when I got on the bus today, the lady working the bus pointed at my belly and made one of the chinese give up their seat for me.  It may have also had something to do with the fact that we had just finished eating at a Western buffet followed by a Dairy Queen blizzard. : ) We are in Beijing and have had the huge blessing of enjoying some western food.  It has been wonderful!!!
